I had coffee and cake for dinner, why ? because I can’t deal with the summer disappearing and caffeine is the only remedy.

I’m fortunate/unfortunate to have an amazing coffee place round by my house.  A group of very kind Ozzies run the joint and keep it stocked with high quality blends and amazing cakes (see photo of morning ritual on the right)

For dinner, not so good, but it did kick start a demo I began working on yesterday.  I still don’t know what will become of it, but at least it’s at the point where I can pull a few moves (yes, dancing in my home studio, late at night, I’d hope we all admit to doing that)

Forgive the low light and stubble, its late…I haven’t shaved in a week.

Something Old – LAST – Nine Inch Nails

I’m not saying what he’s doing now isn’t good. Someone is certainly enjoying it, somewhere.  This is my favorite track off of Broken, that wall of guitars is like a tsunami.

Something New : Nothin’ But Love – W.H.

Honestly, I’m just in a mood to hear Pop songs lately.  The 2cnd song off of Whitney Houston’s new album (yes, Whitney Houston) a fine specimen of R&B.  Don’t judge, in fact, that’s what the song is about.  Just get through the chorus for me (and those backing vocals!).

Went to a party at the store Moss this past evening. (Hyper-vogue home furnishing as Art store)

It was like walking through a portal OUT of the Recession; Balancing of check book ? whats that ? budget ? who ?

Is it superficial to want the right for Gays and Lesbians to marry, just so I can register at this store ?

But a little back story. I once worked as a designer, and for the man who designed this store.

I drafted up 60 pages of mechanical drawings and took measurements of the raw space; I vividly remember climbing up onto scaffolding, flat on my back like Michelangelo measuring distances between sprinkler pipes.

Sometimes I miss that world.

But if anyone wants to gift me with the

MUSIC

No rhyme or reason, the first two songs that came on my Ipod whilst on shuffle mode.

Terrence Trent D’arby – Lets Go Forward With Our Love

Effortless. When you think about it, the drums and bass are really warm while the horns and piano are canned and cheap sounding. Yet it works.

Sorry there is no Youtube link to this

Slowdive – Souvlaki Space Station

Like swimming in a vat of caramel after eating magic mushrooms, how can one print that much ATMOSPHERE to a reel to reel ?

Introduction… Del Marquis

I’ve never kept a blog before. I don’t twitter, and I’m sh*te at keeping up my personal web pages; Myspace, Facebook, etc. Too much information, too much being shared and not enough mystery. If I truly knew the artists who made the music I loved, I would probably love it less. [...]

I’ve never kept a blog before. I don’t twitter, and I’m sh*te at keeping up my personal web pages; Myspace, Facebook, etc. Too much information, too much being shared and not enough mystery. If I truly knew the artists who made the music I loved, I would probably love it less. I’ve met some heroes in my short pop career, but mostly I prefer to know them by the songs they sing, and not by their up-close faces, offstage drama or everyday realness.

But here goes…

I have spent the past year cultivating a project that is very close to my heart, and for that reason it is impossible not to take things personally. The low blows are especially low and the highs, thrilling.

In Scissor Sisters, I can keep things at a distance, my offstage personality is a world away from my everyday one. Creating a stage personae was organic, the person onstage is still very much me, but someone who would otherwise be too bold in everyday life to fit in, you are allowed so much more liberties as a performer, and it is an amazing rush.

So now that I have to get people up to date on what I’ve been doing , solo-wise, it’s important for me to make the distinction between these two musical beings. My output as a solo artist is through an independent label set up by my friends and I (Embryoroom). There isn’t one element that isn’t handled personally to completion by our small group of three people; artwork, video, production, and to a degree management and promotion.

Why contribute more audio noise to an already saturated world ? Cause this project is goddamn important and needs to be heard, that’s why.

More soon.

After you guys chose Lovelle as the UK ambassador on the Pepsi-back Akon single “Oh Africa”, the time has finally come!

On Sunday (31st January), the single will be released, and we all hope it gets to number one!

The song, featuring Akon and Keri Hilson (pictured with Lovelle, right) is giving proceeds from the sales to helping underprivileged African youth. Akon’s Konfidence Foundation, (Konfidence.org), will be one of the main charities set to receive a portion of the proceeds.

Check out konfidence.org to download the track, and check back here next week for more information and videos!

Hey Pepsimaxcasters… It’s been a blinding few weeks indeed. We have had some truly brilliant gigs – Leeds on Monday was mental… we had the Sheffield Wednesday firm in and it went off!!

And the The London Forum last Thurs was totally insane!! It was packed, the crowd knew every single word to every song and  everyone was jumping about and going crazy- at one point I thought the balcony was going to come down! We then went on and partied till the small hours in Camden… I didn’t feel to clever in the morning though!

I also wanna say a big thank you to the Pepsi Max comp winners for coming down and saying  hello – top geezers! Anyway just thought you’d like a sneak peek at one of our soundchecks. This is me doing “The Drugs Don’t Work” by The Verve – one of my favourite bands. Liam, Andy and I like to take it in turns to choose a song to cover to keep sounchecks fun! Enjoy… TC.

Hey Pepsi Maxcasters!! We hope you’re dandy and can’t wait to see you all on out upcoming UK tour (check our website for dates www.theenemy.com). We are sure they’ll be lots of crazy moments in the next few weeks but all this talk of touring has got us feeling all misty eyed about past tours! We’ve been looking through some old tour snaps and have complied a little album for you to have a look at and that will hopefully give you a little flavour of what touring with The Enemy is like. The pics include photos from Beachbreak, Glastonbury, Ibiza Rocks (we love IBIZA- want to be there now!!!!) and Summersonic in Japan- mad and wonderful place. Oh and there’s one of some clowns (it’s not us in disguise, honest! We just like clowns) plus check out the pic of two of road crew after Andy and Liam had chucked them in the pool in Ibiza! Hilarious! Adios and see you on the road! Tom, Liam and Andy

Liam from The Enemy’s Tour Essentials

  • The most important is mobile phone!
  • iPod
  • Spare chargers because Andy will steal them!
  • Lots of t shirts, socks and boxers
  • Flip flops for the venue showers!

  • Fully stocked washbag – tour is a sweaty process
  • Immodium tablets – for when your on the motorway, on the bus and get some inevitable stomach problems. Tour bus rule is no solids, even if you think its runny enough!
  • DVD’s – Partridge, The Office, Brass Eye and Human Remains!
  • Deck of cards and some poker chips – quickest way to lose your PD’s
  • Tour itinerary – to stop you pi**ing the tour manager off and asking a million questions!

(All held together in a bag sturdy enough to be abused and thrown around for a month!)
